E-max is a lithium-disilicate glass ceramic and may be preferred particularly in the aesthetic zone for its translucency. Zirconia offers high strength and can be used for different indications in both anterior and posterior regions.

There is no single material that is best for every patient. Bruxism, bite forces, restoration thickness, underlying tooth colour and aesthetic goals should be considered together.

After clinical and appropriate imaging assessment, the clinician can determine which option better fits the individual case.
